On November 21 (local time), at 6:00 PM in the QMB Park on Sulawesi Island, Indonesia, Weiming Environment Equipment Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Weiming Equipment”), a subsidiary of Weiming Environment Protection, signed a cooperation agreement on new material metallurgical equipment with QMB New Energy Materials Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “QMB”), a subsidiary of GEM Co., Ltd. Xiang Yihao, Assistant President of Weiming Environment Protection, represented the company in signing the agreement. The ceremony was attended by Xu Kaihua, Chairman of GEM Co., Ltd., Xiang Guangming, Chairman of Weiming Environment Protection, and witnessed by Lee Dong-chae, President of South Korea’s ECOPRO.
The cooperation covers design, manufacturing, intelligent system integration, and installation of hydrometallurgical equipment for laterite nickel ore, with a provisional total contract value of RMB 557 million for the supply and installation of non-standard atmospheric pressure tanks. The agreement primarily supports equipment and technical services for QMB’s Phase II expansion project. This marks another collaboration between Weiming and GEM following their joint ventures in domestic new material and resource recycling projects, extending their partnership overseas.
QMB, an Indonesian enterprise specializing in laterite nickel ore hydrometallurgy and new energy materials production, operates a facility in Morowali, Indonesia, with an annual capacity of 30,000 tons of MHP (Mixed Hydroxide Precipitate) extracted via hydrometallurgy. Its Phase II project aims to further boost production. Weiming Equipment, a National High-Tech Enterprise and Zhejiang Provincial Enterprise Research Institute, is recognized as a national leader in critical environmental protection technologies and equipment. It possesses robust R&D capabilities and expertise in high-end equipment manufacturing.
In 2022, Weiming Environment Protection entered the new energy materials sector, investing in multiple projects. Concurrently, Weiming Equipment has advanced R&D in related equipment technologies. This agreement signifies the fruition of Weiming’s efforts in metallurgical equipment innovation for new materials and accelerates the company’s global expansion in equipment exports and industrial collaboration.
