On February 14, preliminary results of the Indonesian presidential election showed that Prabowo Subianto will be elected as the next president of Indonesia.
Indonesia boasts abundant nickel resources, with lateritic nickel ore reserves ranking first globally. In early 2022, Weiming Environment Protection entered the new energy sector and launched a high-ice nickel project in Indonesia. Currently, the company’s joint venture owns high-ice nickel projects with a total annual production capacity of 130,000 tons.
Prabowo advocates for advancing resource industrialization domestically to enhance the added value of local production. He has proposed promoting investments in mining, agriculture, and fisheries. In recent years, Chairman Xiang Guangming has visited Indonesia multiple times and been warmly received by Indonesian leaders, including President Joko Widodo and Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan. In October of last year, Prabowo, then serving as Indonesia’s Minister of Defense, engaged in friendly discussions and shook hands with Chairman Xiang Guangming during a business dinner.
During the Spring Festival holiday, Weiming Environment Protection's first nickel matte project—the Indonesia Jiaman High Nickel Matte Project—was under intense construction, with full-scale equipment installation underway.
