Recently, Mr. Xiang Guangming, Chairman of Weiming Environment Protection, was honored on Forbes’ "2024 China’s Top 50 Best CEOs" list.
Notably, he is the only CEO from the environmental protection sector to be recognized among this elite group of industry leaders. Over two decades ago, Mr. Xiang foresaw the strategic potential of the environmental sector and spearheaded Weiming’s entry into domestic waste treatment. Under his leadership, the company pioneered the independent R&D of domestically developed waste treatment equipment and established end-to-end capabilities in project investment, construction, and operation—achieving remarkable milestones. In 2015, Weiming became China’s first waste treatment company to list on the A-share market via IPO, marking a pivotal leap in its development. Post-listing, the company has sustained robust growth, with its performance metrics soaring over 10-fold in the past decade.
The Forbes China Top 50 Best CEOs list, now in its 20th edition, rigorously evaluates thousands of CEOs from A-share, Hong Kong-listed, and overseas-listed Chinese companies. Selection criteria prioritize sustained performance over short-term fluctuations, analyzing metrics such as market capitalization, stock price trends, net profit growth, Return on Equity (ROE), and shareholder returns, with a focus on two consecutive years of operational excellence. This year’s list features 24 new entrants, including Mr. Xiang.
Other distinguished CEOs on the 2024 list include Chen Lei and Zhao Jiazhen of Pinduoduo, Lei Jun of Xiaomi Group, Zeng Yuqun of CATL, and Wang Chuanfu of BYD.
